Objective: Add 1 / 2 batterys too your xmod
Diffacutly: 5/10
Payoff: 10/10
Okay, First, The items you will need:
-Xmod chassis
-6th / 5th cell battery holder
-Solder iron and solder [ Not needed, But better for stronger connection ]
-Some kinda wire strippers, Some poeple use there Iron, not me.
-Electrial tape or shrink wrap.
-A xmod, Or just any other screwdriver.
-Your xmod controller.
-6 / 5 batterys depending on your battery holder you purchased.
Step 1:
Take out your batterys, Take out your crystal and Take off your antenna
Step 1a:
This would be a good time too plug in your soldering iron, so its nice and hot when you need it, also a good time too charge your batterys.
Step 2:
Remove your Board cover, you will need too also dissconnect your motor,
[Sorry for no pictures, Mine was alreay 6th cell'ed so I didnt have that stuff.
Step 3:
Find your black battery wire, Going too your battery holder, and Leads too your board, Close by the crystal holder and motor.
Step 4:
Now, this is the tricky part....
Cut that black wire.... and strip it.
Now, take your 6th cell, and see how the one wires red, others black, Take the red one, and Connect it like showen above.
Step 4A:
Now Alot of people cut that wire, I dont, But you can this is just if you didn wanna cut it.
Look at step 3's picture, see that place were theres solder, But no wire, that is were the black wire used too go before it was desoldered, Again you dont have too do it like me, This is were you can take your Iron, and solder the black battery holder wire too that solder joint.
Step 5:
Connect your other wire, Either by doing the same as step 4: or solder it like said in step 4A:
Then solder your black and red together like so...
Step 6:
Take a small peice of shirk rap, or electical tape, and rap it around your wires like soo...
Step 7:
Now, If you want too keep your board cover on, Youll need too find a way too run the wires, I myself dont keep it on, too much slop.
Also I like too hide the wires under the board, I think it gives it a more cleaner look, Like so....
Step 8:
Make sure too unplug your soldering iron, Dont burn the house down kiddos. Screw that board cover on, if you decide too keep it, I dont, screw your antenna on, Reconnect your motor and plug in your crystal.
Now, Put in your 5 / 6 batterys and play,
Trust me, for the 97 cents you pay for the battery holder, its worth it.
Now go play....
